ANTZARA JOKOA
In november, during
the village fetes, takes place the goose game. Some young
people comes with horses, and they have to quit the neck of
a goose who is hanging from a cord. One of them has a sword
and is the king, the others use their arms. It is an initiation
ritual for ypung mens who was very important in Euskal Herria,
but now it's only preserved in a little places: Sara, Zuraide,
Oleta, Ainhoa and Ahetze in northern Basque country,
Lekeitio in southern Basque Country(they use boats in part
of horses). |
